Palma de Mallorca – the best place in the world for living according to The Times.
The capital of the largest island of the Balearic archipelago was recognized as an ideal place for living according to the authoritative British edition of The Times, which published last Sunday the next rating of the world’s 50 best cities.
So, this year, even German Berlin, which became the best city with an approved budget, could not get ahead of the Spanish Palma de Mallorca; Canadian Toronto, who received the award in the category “Best megapolis”; Vietnamese Hoi An, who distinguished himself among other figurants of the list by his gastronomy; and New Zealand’s Oakland, named “Best Maritime City”.
According to the publication, the new rating was compiled by a team of professional travel journalists “The Times” on the basis of statistics from different cities around the world on the level and quality of life of the population, climate, environment and ease of “assimilation” for British citizens.
“The capital of the Balearic Islands can boast of its picturesque historical center, beaches within walking distance and exceptional weather conditions,” summed up Sunday’s “The Times” supplement, which also noted the remarkable transport links of the island, the artistic and gastronomic wealth and the close connection of Palma de Mallorca with English culture. All this, according to the British, turns the Spanish city into an ideal place for both holidays and for permanent residence.
