Lithuania disappears – official statistics on migration are announced.
The pace of emigration has already beaten last year’s record.
For 11 months in 2017, 54 thousand people declared their departure from Lithuania, the REGNUM correspondent reported today, on December 11. Such data was officially announced today by the Lithuanian Statistics Department. In this case & mdash; in 2016 about 50 thousand people left Lithuania, that is, last year’s record was broken for 11 months of this year.
Thus, in Lithuania at the moment there are officially less than 2.8 million residents. Accurate statistics are usually announced at the beginning of each year. This means that Lithuania has officially lost a million inhabitants since 1991, when 3.8 million people lived in the republic.
Note that this is the official statistics & mdash; persons who declared their departure, while many formally continue to be counted as living in Lithuania, but in reality & mdash; constantly are on earnings in Great Britain, Germany, the countries of Scandinavia and other states. Partially, the real scale can illustrate the number of pupils in the school. If in 2001 in Lithuanian schools 604 thousand pupils studied, then in 2017 & mdash; 330 thousand.
