Bermuda (Bermuda)
Detailed information about the country: Bermuda. Photos, maps, population, cities, economy, climate, statistics collected by the CIA USA / World factbook.
Bermuda.
The first English settlement on the islands appeared in 1609 – it was founded by English colonists who were heading to Virginia, but shipwrecked. Since 1684, Bermuda has been officially declared the crown possession of England. In the late 19-early 20 centuries. the economy of the islands began to specialize in tourism, which continues to be an important sector of the economy. In recent years, international business has been developing: Bermuda has turned into a very successful offshore financial center. Internal self-government was granted to Bermuda in 1968. The government of the islands in 1989 tried to achieve the country’s independence, but these plans were rejected by Britain.
